Leicester Cathedral: The Majestic Construction of a Monumental Building

We are delighted to share with you the latest updates on the ongoing Leicester Cathedral restoration project. Having previously been involved in the Bills of Quantities for this project, it is exciting to see the significant progress made while still preserving the historical heritage of this iconic building.

The Cathedral restoration project is a comprehensive one, which involves the demolition of the existing old Song school building and the construction of a new heritage learning centre. Additionally, the Cathedral building itself will undergo a significant restoration process, including repairs to the stonework, roof, and flooring among other things.

The total cost of this project is set to be £12.7 million, thanks to the generous donations from individuals, businesses, and organisations across the city and country. The National Lottery Heritage Fund and other grant-making bodies also contributed to the financial support.

ABM Tiling Limited, a highly reputable subcontractor, has been tasked with renovating the internal flooring with a beautiful natural stone that will complement the Cathedral’s architectural style. This choice of flooring material was carefully selected to ensure that it meets the high standards required for such a significant restoration project.

The expected completion date for the Cathedral restoration project is December 2023. Once the project is completed, the public will have an opportunity to visit and explore this iconic building, which has played a significant role in the history of Leicester and the surrounding areas.
