Building a positive culture of support, empathy, and helping others

As an organisation and also on a more personal level, more and more people are keen to help shift the world to being safer and more supportive of people dealing with mental health issues. During Mental Health Awareness Month (May), Mynott Associates were provided with the opportunity to have our very own trained Mental Health First-Aider in the workplace.

As a member of Morgan Sindall’s supply chain, we were invited to register to complete a two day training course to become a ‘Mental Health First Aider’ (MHFA England). The course was held at a conference centre in Solihill last week and was attended by our Bedford Office Manager Susanna Auty.

Statistics state that one in four people will experience a mental health problem of some kind each year in England, and furthermore and somewhat closer to home, two construction workers take their own life every single working day in the UK. It is for this very reason that Susanna was keen to complete the course to help address and reduce the stigma associated with mental health, whilst increasing her knowledge in dealing with mental health issues.

Susanna said: “I found the course subjects intense and there were times I felt overwhelmed with emotion, however Chris and Julie from Morgan Sindall delivered the two days in a supportive and safe environment. I would like to thank Chris, Julie and Morgan Sindall for giving me the opportunity to complete the course, their hospitality, their time, energy and support throughout the two days.”

“I am proud to be working alongside MHFA England to promote early intervention which helps with recovery from a mental health crisis.”

As an organisation as a whole, we would like to thank Morgan Sindall for organising the Mental health First-Aider training programme and for recognising the positive impact it can have on both employers and employees with it’s focus on growing awareness and building a positive culture of support, empathy, and treating others well.
