Next phase being constructed for the beautiful Sandon Bury Farm

Last week, our Managing Director Derek Mynott met with a returning client at Sandon Bury farm in Buntingford SG9 0QY to discuss the next project.

About Sandon Bury Farm project.

The Sandon Bury Farm project started in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, with Phase 1 focused on renovating the Manor House, Coach House, Corner Barn, and Garage to create back-of-house facilities for office administration and future venue operations. The existing Dovecote building was also converted to provide additional accommodation for guests, as well as the Manor House. Phase 2 involved restoring a listed Grade 2* Barn, demolishing various other farm buildings, and constructing a new purpose-built wedding venue hall with catering facilities and external works. Phase 3 was focused on completing the external works and refurbishing the existing farm office buildings. The total value of the project was £3M, and despite the pandemic challenges, the team completed all major works by March 2022.

Derek demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment throughout the project, providing cost budget updates, attending design team meetings, providing monthly valuations, and offering ad hoc advice as necessary. The project encountered challenges in procuring materials and products during the COVID period, but with a proactive client working closely with the contractor and the rest of the team, there were no significant problems encountered.

What’s next for Sandon Farm?

The next phase of the project involves converting an old grain store building to provide further accommodation. The designs are well-advanced, and construction activities are due to commence in the last quarter of 2023 for completion in 2024, enhancing the facilities the venue offers even further.
