Phase One North Gungahlin High School: A Bright Future Ahead

The Mynott Bowers team completed the Bills of Quantities for this new high school which responds to the rapid growth in Gungahlin, said to be one of the fastest growing regions in Australia and builds on the ACT Government’s commitment to ensuring every child and young person has access to great, accessible schools that supports high quality education in our growing city.

The Gungahlin high school is being built using sustainable materials, double-glazed windows, and air permeability membranes, ensuring energy efficiency. Additionally, it will be powered by a 250 kW solar photovoltaic system with battery storage. This approach is environmentally conscious and will help to reduce the school’s carbon footprint.

The meticulous planning and development of the school ensured that it’s design featured specialised learning areas for small group programs, a library, and an interactive learning centre. It also comprises sport and recreation spaces available for students and the community, such as a double gymnasium/hall, performing arts spaces, and hardcourts.

This prestigious institution will be able to accommodate 800 students from years 7-10 and will come at a cost of $85 million. The design of the building is inspired by the surrounding grassy woodland and seasonal changes, with sculptural forms and openings throughout the school offering a picturesque view of Ngunnawal Country.

Mynott Bowers Group are proud to be part of projects like this one as we are confident that this state-of-the-art facility will have a positive impact on the community and serve as an excellent example of sustainable development.
