Derek’s weekend of whacky challenges raises funds for charity!

Mynott Bowers Managing Director, Derek Mynott took part in the Ashwell Banger Challenge 2023 held last weekend.

Every couple of years, the local village of Ashwell in Hertfordshire holds the Banger Challenge to raise funds for charity. The aim this year was to raise as much as possible for the British Heart Foundation and the Happy Days Children’s Charity (50/50 SPLIT). Originally the event was scheduled for April 2020, but this was postponed due to Covid.

This year the event had 10 different groups participate in a weekend of whacky challenges in a car brought for less than £350. The team then had to make it roadworthy and decorate it with a suitable theme. Derek’s team was The Ant Hill Mob with their Roaring Plenty (Wacky Races).

Throughout the weekend, the team had to complete lots of weird and wonderful challenges, and below are some of the wonderful challenges they completed.

On the 12th of May, the cars will be sold on eBay. All money raised will go towards both charities.

With the public’s help, Happy Days Children’s Charity was able to support almost 25,000 children with additional needs last year, removing barriers to give them a chance to get out, make new friends, develop new skills, and build confidence in the face of adversity.
